Sharpness, Value and Craft Under the Tips of Your Fingers
Most fans of the Dell notebooks don't give much thought in the kind of Dell model they get. For a couple of reason, that might be good since most Dell laptops do provide numerous configuration options for you to choose from. However, comparing them won't hurt as well. So let's start:
Compared to Dell Inspiron 1520, the Dell Inspiron 1720 has many of the same features we liked namely: 802.11n Wi-Fi, discrete graphics, a 3GB of free online back-up, choice of colors and a speedy Intel Core Duo processor --- but we definitely have to mention that this Inspiron 1720 is a powerful laptop crafted for a demanding home office that has a full-sized keyboard with a separate number pad as it is just like having a desktop PC but with a flexibility of a laptop, you may even get used of not using a separate mouse. See it's configuration:

•    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo SP9400 (2.40GHz, 1066MHz, 6MB Cache)
•    Screen: 13.3 inch, WXGA LED Backlit (matte finish)
•    Memory: 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
•    Storage: 80GB 7200 RPM HDD
•    Optical Drive: TSSTcorp DVD+RW TS-U633A
•    Wireless: Intel 5300 802.11 a/b/g/n
•    Graphics: Intel X4500 HD
•    ExpressCard slot
•    Web Camera and Microphone
•    Battery: 56 Whr 6-cell
•    Standard E-Series 65 W Adaptor
•    Windows Vista Business with XP Pro Downgrade
•    Advertised Weight: 3.3 lbs

Most buyers was amazed that it’s easier to use than they thought it would be --- an absolutely good surprise, don't you agree? It has a complete contingent of connections as well --- an ExpressCard/54 slots, a memory card slot and a five USB ports. You can have an instant access with its DirectMedia button that directs you to the entertainment options from music to videos to movies and photo slideshows.
It's large screen may make it heavier for thin-lightweight notebook fans but it comes with a great value multimedia laptop and good specifications for the price. The glossy WUXGA screen is absolutely beautiful --- stylish and definitely something to show off but still sticks to being conservative. A great model to use as a replacement for a desktop PC.
